Electronic Quality and Risk Adjustment Medical Records Requests

The Availity® Medical Attachment tool allows providers to receive electronic quality and risk adjustment medical record requests from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL). Beginning January 2019, providers can upload and submit the necessary medical records to BCBSIL using the Medical Attachment option in the Claims & Payments menu through the Availity Portal.

To receive and respond to these medical records requests, you must be registered with Availity. To enable this feature, administrators must log into Availity and select Enrollments Center > Medical Attachments Setup, then enter the required data. For additional details, refer to the Responding to Electronic Quality and Risk Adjustment Medical Records Requests Tip Sheet

At this time, electronic medical record request and submission process are not available for medical record requests resulting from utilization review activities or the claims adjudication process.
